You Gotta Have This! – Coffee!

For the love of COFFEE!

My husband and I are very much in love with each other, AND we are both very much in love with coffee! Of the many things we have in common (the love of a great cup of coffee being one of my favorites), for the two of us, it’s an ongoing adventure to find and experience the best full bodied cup of coffee – EVAR! (The younger crowd’s version of “EVER”).

Everywhere we go, near and far, the search for a great cup of coffee is always on the list. I cannot tell you how many favorites we have tried, from here at home in Houston, to far far away – Indonesia.

Did you know, that the most expensive coffee in the world does not hail from Jamaica or Hawaii, but instead from Indonesia? In my opinion, the $635 per pound of “monkey poop” coffee is likely the finest around. It really is!

“Kopi Luwak” the most expensive coffee in the world does exist, and those who drink the expensive coffee know that it is made from coffee beans eaten, partly digested, and then excreted by the common palm civet, a weasel-like animal/monkey.

“Kopi” the Indonesian word for coffee along with “luwak” is local name of this animal which eats the raw red coffee beans. The civet digests the soft outer part of the coffee cherry, but does not digest the inner beans and excretes them.

Having said that, having tasted it (the Kope Luwak), and having loved it, we still do also appreciate simplicity and reasonable prices, as well as the taste.

So today, let me announce to you the arrival of our new “Coffee Baby”!  A real beauty right?

NespressoIt’s a girl!  She weighed in at 10.85 pounds, 12″ x 8 1/4″ x 12″ high, she’s super shiny, and is born in 4 different colors! Ours came in red (maybe you can help us name her)!

She priced out at, I would say, the low to mid-range of coffee/espresso makers, at around $300. As I said, she comes in several colors, sizes, and varieties, depending on how many bells and whistles you would like to have in your little ‘coffee arsenal’.

She also comes with her own special “variety pack” (pods) of about 16 different strengths and flavors of regular and decaf coffees and espressos.

The things we appreciate the most?  Well, everything! After all, we ARE the proud ‘parents’ of this new baby!

Ok, so here’s the official list: We are VERY happy with, her color (because she matches our decor). We love the fact that she’s super quiet, super fast, and easy to clean up after! We are also super impressed with her very refined – full bodied flavor in each and every cup.

In conclusion of our “Birth Announcement”, you should know that you can obviously pay more or you can pay less for your favorite ‘brew baby’.  I just wanted to share with you how satisfied we are with our newest addition (after having birthed many, many of these babies over the last 19 years).

Enjoy your brew!
